CGSD: International expertise in road safety

With high political background from China’s prime minister Wen Jiabao and Germany’s former chancellor Mr. Gerhard Schroeder, the joint venture “Beijing Chinese-German Safe-Driving Technology Development Co., Ltd.” (CGSD) was founded on December 6th, 2004. With the ultimate aim of enhancing road safety in China, CGSD is supported by the Chinese government, the Ministry of transport and other central and local transport authorities.

The German founding partner:

Degener Lehrmittel GmbH

Founded in 1934, Degener Lehrmittel GmbH, with its head office in Hanover, Germany, has become a world leader in driving training and traffic education. Degener’s products has gained an excellent reputation in Europe and other parts of the world.

Degener’s product portfolio includes software, hardware, books and training seminars, for all kind of driver experience levels. The innovative educational products by Degener contribute to the improvement of road traffic safety, for driving learners and new drivers as well as for professional drivers (e.g. truck or taxi drivers).

The Chinese founding partner:

Research Institute of Highway

Founded in 1956, the Research Institute of Highway (RIOH) of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) is a comprehensive technical research and development base in road and transport field in China, directly under the MOT.

After taking over the management of driving training from the Ministry of Public Security at the beginning of 1990s, the RIOH has additionally been engaging in the research and development of driving training, accident prevention and road safety infrastructure.
